TOPIC: Unfailing Affection
TEXT: John 18:1-14
KEY VERSE: “Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way: That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none” (JOHN 18:8,9).
DAILY MANNA 20 APRIL 2019 MESSAGE: It is difficult for many people to grasp God’s love. For them they started the journey of their lives in the wrong way, the relied on themselves. Thus, they question how God could really love them since they do not deserve His love. What can liberate such people is the realisation that God’s love for them does not begin with them, but begins with Him. He loves us because it is His nature and character to love us not in our own worthiness (1 John 4:8).
Such understanding will help us to appreciate the affection Christ had for His disciples and by extension for the entire human race. Our Lord protected the disciples, even when His own life was in serious jeopardy (John 13:1).

From Matthew’s account of what happened at the garden, the disciples disappointed the expectation of our Lord Jesus because they were found sleeping when they were expected to be watching and praying. Yet He was there at the time when it mattered most – to secure them against the external aggression that could have swallowed them.
Christ died and made Himself a ransom for the sins of the world. Because of His love for us, we have every reason to be filled with hope, feel secure, expect His help and blessings, enjoy salvation and abundant life, live a life of love, become more like Him, live a life of victory over sin and evil, enjoy His presence and be filled with joy and encouragement. To enjoy His love, a sinner must come out of the world by repenting and forsaking his or her sin. Remaining in sin, denies you of His care and affection.
