Scripture Union Daily Guide 4 May 2022 MESSAGE
There are some words that Peter uses to describe those who have become God’s children through faith in Christ. Pick out the words in vs.2,5 and 9 and write them in your notebook. Note that all these are describing Christians as a group. All who have received Christ as Saviour have His Spirit in them and are therefore alive. The new life, however, comes along with many responsibilities: ?
To turn our backs on our old sinful ways that work against the unity of the body (v.1) ? To grow by feeding on God’s word daily (v.2). God’s word is the spiritual food we need for rounded growth. We should have a good appetite for it, just like hungry new‐born babes have for milk. That is the only way to grow in faith. ? To use the different gifts God has given us to help the Church grow to maturity (vs.4‐5, cf., Romans 12:6‐8). ?
To serve as priests by bringing God’s message of salvation to the people and interceding for them before God (vs. 4, 9). (We are called a royal priesthood because our Lord was King by descent from David and Priest by His sacrificial death.)

› For being our Rock upon which we take our bearing daily.
PRAY FOR:
› Grace to constantly die to self daily so we continue to perfect holiness out of our reverence for God.
› SU Nigeria to make holiness their watchword in everything they do.› Determination to daily live in accordance to God’s word.
PRAY AGAINST:
∷ Everything that contaminates body and spirit.
∷ Joking with the grace of God.
