Mercy, which means the shutting out hate, intolerance and truth, which refers to the shutting out dishonesty and deception, are the two elements of a moral character and what all believers should strive for. These two elements cause true human growth. They should be with us throughout our lives.
We should keep them always in view, keep them close at hand, write them on our hearts, lest we forget. To do so helps us to find favor with God. He is mercy and truth, so when we practice it, we are like Him. We will be pleasing to God and we will also be prized by man, as tolerance and honesty are prized attributes that we admire about each other.
Prayer Point for Today
Father, help me to be both merciful and truthful. Help me to keep these with me always, striving to be like You so that I may be pleasing to both You and to others. Amen.
