Scripture Union Daily Guide 17 April 2022 MESSAGE

Imagine what was going on in the minds of the women all through Saturday after the events of Friday. With sorrowful expectations they headed to the tomb to anoint the “dead” body of Jesus to prevent decay. However, God has a different plan! Read vs.1‐4 again. Imagine how deeply terrified they were at the sight of the angelic beings (v.5). ‘Why are you seeking the Living among the dead?’

How is the world still doing this today by comparing Jesus with other dead religious founders? He is risen from the dead, the angels exclaimed. This has been the song of the Church ever since. We should all join the body of Christ all over the world to sing same. What lessons on evangelism can we learn from the women in vs.8‐9? The women saw, believed and testified, but notice the reaction of the men to the news (v.11)?

They did not believe because it was not a first‐hand encounter like the women’s. They would soon know and learn. What can we learn from Peter’s initial experience and encounter in this account (v.12)? He continued to wonder as the amazing plan of God unfolds.

Practice/Word Application
And So? As the plan of redemption unfolds to you, do you believe, doubt, wonder, or share the news?

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Thank you, the risen Lord, for completing the redemption of man and helping me to believe it.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Matthew 11:28
