Bible Verse for Today: Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD. Proverbs 18:22
Inspirational Message for Today: A good wife is a treasure. The Bible tells us this many times. What then, is meant by a good wife? In the 1950’s, Good Housekeeping published a “Good Wife’s Guide” which outlined the subservient role a woman was to play in the marriage. Most women today would be appalled at the suggested guidelines.
However, one overriding idea remains true. A good wife honors her husband. She takes care of him and meets his needs. She protects him and defends him. In the words of country legend Tammy Wynette, she “stands by [her] man.” Here a wife is called a “good thing” and is described as “favor.” Any man who recognizes the treasure that is his wife, who sees her as a “good thing” and shows her that she is, will indeed have a “good wife.”
Today’s Prayer: For women: Father, let me a good wife to my husband. Show me how to meet his needs so that I may be a “good thing.” Help me to honor and respect him and care for him the way You have destined for me too. Amen.
