QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTIONS

* Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
* Q3: Is there any command for me to obey?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 15 May 2024 – MESSAGE
Although they were living in deviance to God’s word, the people of Judah wondered why God seems to be unconcerned about their predicaments. In this passage, God gave them the reasons (vs.1-2).
Read vs.3-8 again and identify the sins of the people of Judah. How do these compare to what is happening in our society today? Like it was in Judah, our society is rife with shedding of innocent blood, miscarriage of justice, lying, deceptions, etc. God hears perfectly and He is not lacking in ability to help us, but if we are not committed to His word, purposes, and covenants, we should not expect His blessings (Romans 6:1-2).
What good example can we see in the people of Judah (vs.9-15b)? Sin separates us from God, but if we acknowledge, confess, repent of, and forsake our sins (Proverbs 28:13), the Lord will save (vs.16-17) and physically vindicate us before our enemies (vs.18-19).
We can rejoice that v.20 has been fulfilled in the coming of Christ (1 John 1:8-9) and we should be encouraged that God is ever faithful in keeping His promises to us (v.21).
Practice/Word Application
Thought? No matter how glamorous, the sinful life is a useless and worthless life (vs.5-6)
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for delivering me from the power and consequences of sin. Give me grace to live daily to please you alone.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with 1 John 3:1
“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”
