TOPIC: Confidence in God
This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. So if we know that He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have whatever we asked of Him.
– 1 John 5:14-15
God does not make mistakes. The only thing in the Bible that is not inspired is the punctuation. We read, “This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will…” And so we dive out of faith, saying, “Lord, if it be thy will.”
He looks back over the sapphire sill of heaven’s gate and says to you, “Why don’t you know my will?” This misunderstanding is all because a comma is wrongly placed. The emphasis is put on the wrong syllable. It should not read, “If we ask anything according to His will…” God says, “If we ask anything, according to His will He hears us.” What does that mean? He willed to hear you. You have never prayed the prayer He did not hear and answer.
Be confident in God. He will hear and answer when you call, because He loves you and cares for you.
I will have confidence in my God, for in Him I have everything I need.
