The Scripture makes the necessity of prayer very clear, even to the point of admonishing us to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
Now, there are two things that happen in the human body without ceasing: the beating of the heart and the breathing in and out of air.
This means, to pray without ceasing is to pray like you breathe; it is to pray like your heart beats. This implies that prayer is the live wire of a Christian.
Why is prayer the live wire of a Christian?
i. Prayer and fasting is a door way to the world of the supernatural, the spiritual world.
It was at the hour of prayer that Peter and John encountered a crippled man and he was healed by the Power of God (Acts 3:1). The hour of prayer is the hour of power. Supernatural power flows at the frequency of prayer.
This means, every form of decadence in the prayer altar translates into bankruptcy of power. When the prayer altar begins to decay, power begins to escape. So, it is important to know that prayer, with of course, fasting is doorway to the world of the supernatural.
ii. Prayer and fasting is the principal tool for the nullification of the agenda of hell against the Church.
Prayer and fasting is the principal tool for countering the onslaught of the gates of hell against the Church (Matthew 16:18). In order to counter the onslaught of the gates of hell against the Church, prayer and fasting is needed.
Beloved, make up your mind to maintain a consistent prayer life.
