THE UPPER ROOM DEVOTIONAL 11TH NOVEMBER 2025, TUESDAY MESSAGE
Stepping Out
Frank L. Barth (Texas, USA)
Today’s Reading
Matthew 25:31-40
The King will say to those on his right, “I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” – Matthew 25:36 (NIV)
When I was stationed with the U.S. Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, our post’s chapel held a Sunday morning Bible study at the United States Disciplinary Barracks, the military’s only maximum security prison. The leader of this group invited me to join them, but I was nervous to go to a prison Bible study. After two years of the leader kindly inviting me, I finally joined the group. What an unbelievable experience! The men’s faith, joy, and energy for Christ was amazing.
Years later at my church in Texas, a Sunday school classmate encouraged me to participate in the prison ministry at a nearby state prison. Sharing Christ’s love and forgiveness with prisoners and their families through this ministry continues to be an incredible experience in my Christian walk.
It is remarkable what can happen when we step out in faith, even when we are unsure where it will lead us
Thought for the Day
I can grow in Christ by getting out of my comfort zone.
