The Upper Room Devotional 10 March 2026 | Message:
The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40 (NIV)
When I started high school, I was very shy and had no friends at school. When I entered the cafeteria for lunch and looked for a place to sit, it seemed that everyone was already sitting with their friends — talking, laughing, and enjoying their food.
When two students welcomed me to sit with them, it was such a relief not to have to sit alone. Myra and Terri, who were both Christians, showed me kindness and helped make the school day much better for me. I felt included and wanted, and I will never forget the way they showed God’s love to me.
People today, especially young people, face similar situations. When we see someone sitting alone, we can go and be a friend, welcoming them and sharing God’s love and inclusion. Everything we do has consequences, and our compassionate actions can change lives for the good.

I will welcome and love others as God welcomes me.

Dear Father, help us to be a beacon of hope to others, welcoming them as you welcome us. We pray the prayer your Son taught us, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one” (Matt. 6:9-13, NIV). Amen.
