Welcome to another exciting week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. Today, we shall focus on: The Healing Balm!
We discover from scriptures that there is a balm in Gilead but it is not recognised; there’s a physician there but He is not acknowledged. As it is written, Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the Lord in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities? The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me. Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered (Jeremiah 8:19-22). From the above scripture, we can see that with the Physician and the balm, our health can be recovered. This Great Physician is Jesus; His Word is the balm that heals and delivers and He has made a prescription for us.
What then is this Balm?
The Anointing Oil: This is one of the prescriptions of the Great Physician. The Bible records, And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them (Mark 6:7, 13). The Great Physician sent forth His disciples and He equipped them with the prescription for any kind of sickness. Having proved the efficacy of this prescription, the Apostles maintained the use of it all through their ministry. That was why James boldly recommended it to the Church in James 5:14, Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. This is the all-purpose drug. Throughout the scriptures, there is no other prescription for healing outside the oil –the New Testament covenant balm. It will heal any sickness and destroy any disease. The anointing oil is the healing balm.

Furthermore, inside the oil resides the personality of the Holy Ghost, the third Person of the Godhead. The Bible says, Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah (1 Samuel 16:13). David was anointed with the oil and the One inside the oil stepped out of the oil and came upon him. Every time we receive the oil with an open heart, He comes out for us. It is written, So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him (Isaiah 59:19). Friends, what the anointing oil contains are not scientific; it is a mystery –the mystery of the indwelling presence of the Spirit of the Lord.
In conclusion, the anointing oil has the mystery of the fan and fire as seen in Matthew 3:11-12, I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire (Matthew 3:11-12). When the fire enters our bodies, it destroys every chaff, it consumes every stone blocking our health, it licks up every spell of satan and every evil in our lives (1 Kings 18:38). However, this can only be possible when you are born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me! Now, I know I am born again!
