SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 13:6-9(KJV)
6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
FOCUS VERSE
“And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:” (Luke 13:8)
Our Focal Scripture makes mention of that moment when the vinedresser offered to dig around the fig tree. The fig tree was yet to yield a harvest after three years of fruits being sought on it by the owner, and the vinedresser offered to dig around it to make fruitfulness happen. There was going to be digging in order to make fruitfulness happen. Rather than take the option of doing something superficial, the vinedresser chose to go deep.
Friend, in all your doings in this second half of 2025, be intentional to go deeper. Go deeper in your fellowship with God and with His Spirit. Go deeper in your knowledge of God. Go deeper in your knowledge of scripture. Go deeper in your commitment to the things that pertain to God’s kingdom. Go deeper in your commitment to your assignment. Go deeper in your competence. Go deeper in your efforts.
Fruitfulness was not going to come by superficial efforts; it was going to come by digging deep. Fruitfulness was going to come, by departing from the superficial and going into the deep. You just might want to launch out into the deep. Success does not come to those who play on the fringes. Excellence is not the portion of those who are unable to go deeper in their assignment. Fruitfulness may forever elude those who do not dig deeper.
This is that season when you must go deeper. The time of playing on the surface should be over already. The time for being a superficial Christian, with no depth in God, should be over. The time for being superficial in your efforts, prayers, commitment, dedication, devotion, competence, consecration, etc. should be over already. The time for the ordinary life should be ended for you. It’s time to dig deeper and go deeper in your mandate.
If you have been playing on the surface, now is the time to change and go deeper. Go deeper and dig deeper. Go for the depths. Go for more. Go deeper.
Psalm 57: 8 says: “Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.”
DECLARATION: I dig deeper; I will not be superficial, in Jesus’ name!
