TOPIC: Transition Changes
FOCUS: “18. And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house. 19. And this woman’s child died in the night; because she overlaid it.” (1 Kings 3: 18-19)
Our Focal Scripture speaks of the two women, both harlots, who lived together and had children. These harlots were at a transition season where they became mothers, but the identity of their old season followed them into their new season. They carried over their old ways into their new blessings. They came to a transition season, and they carried the baggage of the old with them. They did not adapt to their new.
Friend, as you arrive at your transition seasons, do an audit of the baggage you have with you, and determine not to carry any negative baggage into your new season. There may be things you got away with in your old season, but you may not be so lucky to get away with them in your new season. There may be errors that didn’t cost you a lot in your old season, but you may not be so lucky to get away with them in your new season.
The harlot that lost her child, lost it because she slept too much, carelessly, and overlaid her child. She used her own weight to suffocate her child. At a time that she ought to be a mother, the carelessness of her harlotry would not let her remain a mother. Did you know that the carelessness of your old ways has come to rob you of your new season? Did you know that your transition moments could be scuttled because of the baggage of the old?
Look inwards and start making changes already. There are changes to be made if you will last long in your marriage; there are changes to be made if you will retain your profitable relationships; there are changes to be made if you will hit your targets; there are changes to be made if you will retain the favour of God and men; there are changes to be made if you will transit from your current season to your new season. Make the changes.
Don’t be counted amongst them that scuttled their own transition because they preferred to remain old in the face of the new. Don’t be counted amongst them who are not ready for the new.
Ephesians 5: 15 says: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,”
DECLARATION: I will not scuttle my transition, in Jesus’ name!
