TOPIC: The Making Process
MEMORY VERSE: “O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.” (Jeremiah 18: 6)
SCRIPTURE READING: PSALMS 23: 1-6
FOCUS: “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” (Psalm 23: 2)
MESSAGE: In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks of how the Lord makes him to lie down in green pastures. The psalmist didn’t say that he lies down in green pastures. He said that the Lord makes him to lie down in the green pastures. The making of the Lord is the basis on which the psalmist lies down in green pastures. The making process of the Lord is what positions the psalmist to lie down in green pastures. There is a making before the lying down.
Friend, it may be your earnest desire to lie down in green pastures, but can you allow the Lord to make you that man that is fit to lie down in green pastures? Can you allow the Lord to make you that prayerful man who can lie down in green pastures? Can you allow the Lord to make you into that man who will not be distracted by green pastures? Can you allow the Lord to make you into that man who will stay humble despite green pastures?
The psalmist didn’t say that the Shepherd just allows him to lie down in green pastures. He spoke of how the Shepherd makes him to lie down in green pastures. Did you realize that each time the Lord is trying to make you, He is positioning you for the green pastures you will lie down on? Did you realize that the making that is yet to happen in you is robbing you of future green pastures? Did you know that the classes you skipped in the making process has hindered your green pastures?
More than ever before, submit yourself to the making of the Lord. Allow the Lord to make you who He wants you to be. Allow the Lord to prune you to become more and more as Him. Allow the Lord to kill your pride. Allow the Lord to kill your temper. Allow the Lord to kill your bad habits. Allow the Lord to take away whatever the enemy has planted in you. Allow the Lord to make you into a vessel that is fit for His use.
Remember, it is the man that God has made that He would allow to lie down in green pastures. Don’t delay your green pastures because you are delaying God in making you into whom He wants you to be.
