Streams of Joy 30th January 2025 Daily Devotional (Thursday) Message
TOPIC: Arise
SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Kings 9
“And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber;” (2 Kings 9: 2)
Elisha instructed the son of the prophet to cause Jehu to arise from among his brethren, before taking him into the inner chamber where he would be anointed as king. Before the oil for kingship could come upon the head of Jehu, the son of the prophet was to make him rise from where he sat amongst his brethren who were fellow captains. Jehu was to rise from his comfort zone; he was to rise from the level he was familiar with. He had to rise.
Friend, you may not be able to enter into the new realm that God has set apart for you until you intentionally break away from where you are sitting with your ‘brethren’. You need to rise from that current level that you are in love with. You need to rise from the mediocrity you have adjusted to. You need to rise from what you call excellence at the moment so you can press for more. You need to rise from where you settled.
The calling on the life of Jehu was beyond the level of his brethren who were fellow captains. They were his friends, but he needed to rise from amongst them so that the agenda of heaven would be unveiled in his life. There are times when you must intentionally rise above your current appetite so that you can have appetite for God’s agenda for your life. There are times when you must break away from the old to embrace the new.
Now is the time to arise. Now is the time to break away from that level you have settled in. Now is the time to say no to average. Now is the time to open your heart to be more. Now is the time to embrace the agenda of heaven for your life. Now is the time to make yourself vulnerable to the dealings of God. Now is the time to look beyond where you have been and look towards where God would have you ascend to. Now it the time for more.
You didn’t come into 2025 so that you can remain stuck in the levels that El Roi wants you to leave speedily. You didn’t come to 2025 to remain average. Arise already.
Ephesians 5: 14 says: “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”
DECLARATION: I arise from my comfort zone, in Jesus’ name!
