Seeds of the Kingdom 11th July 2022 MESSAGE

Some years ago, I had a clear dream which I spent weeks pondering over but just couldn’t understand. It was quite complex. (The content of the dream is not really relevant to the point I am making just now.) I began to feel irritated that the dream came to mind so often, but could not be understood. One day, when I was at home waiting for the kettle to boil for tea, I thought of the dream and said to myself, “It’s that stupid dream again”. In my spirit I sensed God saying “It isn’t a stupid dream”, and He gave me the interpretation of it.

The next morning, I attended a church training session, and halfway through became convinced that God wanted me to share the dream and its interpretation with everyone, and that God had given me the dream for that very moment. The only trouble was that when I looked at the front where the meeting was being led by two tall young men, I had an overpowering sense that someone my size (a little over 5 feet tall) couldn’t possibly go to the front and share.

I can only think that the enemy must have put this illogical thought in my mind, and whispered in my ear that I was too small to stand and share at the front. It seems ludicrous now, but seemed to make perfect sense at the time. But I ignored this belief, made my way to the front, was given the microphone, and was able to share God’s word (i.e. the dream and its interpretation) for our church.

This word was used within the following teaching session as an illustration and our founding pastor told me the word was “Spot on”, to my relief. The dream supported a change in policy that our pastor was making, a policy I knew nothing about at that time.

The enemy used my size to try and convince me that I didn’t qualify as someone who could share God’s word and I can only imagine the tactics he sometimes uses. Do some people wrongly imagine that they are too young, too old, too poorly educated, too racially different, or too disabled to share God’s word? The enemy is so cunning!

Dear Lord, help me to see that what we look like on the outside, is so different from how you see us. You look into our hearts, and you do not disqualify us because of our outward appearance the way the world is so prone to do. Amen.
