TOPIC: The Futility of Looking Unto Man
SCRIPTURE: Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.
Jeremiah 17:5.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: No matter how highly placed a man is, he can fail, change and die but God is unfailing, changeless and “dieless”.
Seeds of Destiny 22 July 2023 SOD Devotional Message:
As a young medical doctor many years ago, a man came to me and collected the sum of N10,000. He said that he wanted to help me buy some commodity and resell for me at a mouth-watering profit. At the time, doctor’s salary was N2,500.
Now, since this young man was also a doctor and God had helped us to lead him to Christ, I did not doubt his integrity.
So, I gave him the money but from that time, it became one story after another.
One day, he brought an item to me and said, “This is what your money was invested in, and it is worth N300,000,000”.
Inside that amount of money that he called, I planned everything I wanted to do. I told myself that I would buy a car from it. I would buy this and that from it, but unfortunately, the money never came. Later, the man disappeared into thin air.
One day, I thought of it and God said to me, “You had better forget that money”. So, I had to forget it painfully.
About fifteen years later, he came to see me in the office and the first time I saw him, I remembered the money. He came with diabetes, hypertension and all manner of afflictions. I pitied him and prayed for him. That experience confirmed that it is wrong to put your trust on anyone or anything other than God.
ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Go through today’s message again.
2. Refuse to put your hope in any man. Put your hope only in God.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You deliver me from every temptation to put my trust and confidence in man and material things. I put all my hope and confidence in You, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
