TOPIC: LIVING FOR GOD’S GLORY
SCRIPTURE: These people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise. Isaiah 43:21
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Life finds its true meaning when it is lived for God and viewed through the lens of eternity.
Our anchor Scriptures confirm that living for the glory and praise of God is the major purpose of the life of man on earth. Having this understanding is critical to living a successful and fulfilling life.
However, many people are alive today without direction because they have a wrong understanding of the purpose of life. They don’t really know why they are here. They don’t understand the reason for their creation and existence. This is why it is critical to continually ask the question: Why am I here on earth? Where did I come from, and where am I going? This is because until your origin is clear to you, your destiny cannot be fully understood and realized. If you are ignorant of where you are coming from, you will remain uncertain about where you are going.
When the purpose of a thing is not understood, misuse or abuse is inevitable. That is why it is crucial for everyone to discover why they are here on earth and what they have been designed and equipped for.
Now, why were we created?
1. God created us for Himself and for His glory – Isaiah 43:21.
Nobody forms a thing for himself and then allows that thing to decide what it wants to do with itself. God formed us for Himself so we can live for Him. We are to give Him Glory by reflecting His Image and Character on the earth.
2. To live for Him (2 Corinthians 5:15)
Christ died for us so we can live for Him. God redeemed us to Himself through the Cross. It was a work of reconciliation of man to the original fellowship with God through Christ. Romans 5:10 says, For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
What does it mean to live for God?
1. Living for God means living a life that is centred on God. It is living a life that revolves around God, not living for self, money or living at random without direction. It is living a life where God knows, the devil knows, your friends and even your enemies know that your life is centred around God. If you live a life where people around you cannot tell that God is the centre of your life, that is self-deception. Life finds its true meaning when it is lived for God and viewed through the lens of eternity.
Your decisions are fuelled by your consideration for God. God becomes the number one consideration in your life.
2. Living for God means living to bring honour and glory to His name. It is not living a life that brings reproach and disgrace to the Name of God. It means living a life that makes people say, “God is real,” or “There are still genuine Christians in this world.”
3. Living for God means living by His principles and precepts. It means living by the dictates of God, not by the dictates of the world. The world does not tell you how to live, how to talk, how to dress, or how to make money—God does. Living for God is living according to God’s ways of doing things.
Beloved, what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? A testimony that ends with the testifier in hell is a wasted testimony. A miracle without a transformed life is incomplete. Living for God is living wisely and purposefully.
REMEMBER THIS: Life finds its true meaning when it is lived for God and viewed through the lens of eternity.
