TOPIC: The Power of Company
SCRIPTURE: Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Company affects mindset, and mindset affects life’s outcome.
Experiences and studies reveal that people usually replicate the influence of their association or company. That is why if you hang around audacious, optimistic and positivistic people, you become audacious, optimistic, positivistic and enthusiastic. You will literally become a bundle of energy and momentum. Company sharpens character, and character determines destiny.
Company affects mindset, and mindset affects life’s outcome. That is why you should be careful who you call friend. Some friends can turn your giant vision into a dwarf one. They begin by asking you, “Who told you this can be done? Who has achieved it before?” They will bring all kinds of analyses and considerations.
If you hang around pessimistic people, you think pessimistically. Some people don’t think anything is possible. Don’t manage them. Don’t say you will change their mind. If they are not thinking like you, find your level. When someone is lying down, and you are standing up beside them, between you pulling him up and him pulling you down, which one is easier? He is lying down, and gravity is already in his favour. He can easily pull you to his level. So, be deliberate and be intentional about your company. Pursue the right relationships like Elisha pursued Elijah, and Joshua remained with Moses.
Your association affects the preservation of your life and destiny. There are people who have died other people’s deaths because of the wrong company they kept. Your company influences your action steps, and those steps affect your outcome in life.
Most people do things like their friends. Human beings are creatures of habit and influence. Anyone you are not trying to become like, give them distance.
Many people could have been far better than what they are today, if not for the people they hang around with. The destinies of many have been destroyed because of the kind of friends they keep.
Beloved, be liberal with love, but selective with relationships. Love people liberally but relate with people selectively.
REMEMBER THIS: Company affects mindset, and mindset affects life’s outcome.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Evaluate your life and lives of the people in your life today.
2. Disconnect from negative and destructive influences.
3. Connect intentionally with people of positive and godly influence.
PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your Word to me today. I receive the grace to connect with the right people and to walk away from wrong associations, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
