Seeds of Destiny 17th March 2025 SOD Daily Devotional Reading Message
TOPIC: Losing Dominion By Pride
SCRIPTURE: If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she. (Esther 1:19)
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: People lose things in life, including dominion, by pride.
Humility is a critical asset in the fulfillment of life and destiny. People gain and exercise dominion through humility.
Pride, on the other hand is a destroyer of life and destiny. Indeed, pride goes before a fall, and this include a fall from dominion into oblivion. People in authority can lose their dominion through pride. Humility enthrones people but pride dethrones people.
Examples abound in Scripture of people who lost their dominion through pride. One striking example was Queen Vashti. Queen Vashti was the queen of the Persian Empire, a vast empire stretching from India to Ethiopia, covering one hundred and twenty provinces.
However, despite her position of authority, she was full of pride and arrogance. The king, her husband, requested her to appear before him in the presence of the people during a royal banquet, but she refused. Her refusal, which was due to her pride and arrogance, caused her dominion to be taken away from her. She forgot that the one who gave her dominion could also take it away. She lost her authority and position because of pride.
One important lesson here is that people lose things in life—including dominion—because of pride. Whenever pride takes over, people lose what they have. Vashti’s refusal to honour the king’s invitation led her into obscurity – she was never allowed to see the king again or marry anyone else. She lived the rest of her life in a state of disgrace.
Beloved, the story of Vashti serves as a powerful lesson for everyone. Have you lost your dominion and authority in life? Have you been demoted at your place of work because of pride and disregard for authority? God can restore you if you genuinely repent and humble yourself. But remember to avoid pride at all costs.
Remember this: People lose things in life, including dominion, by pride.
ASSIGNMENT:
1. Refuse to allow pride to render you bankrupt in life.
2. Cultivate the attitude of humility to maintain your dominion and authority.
PRAYER:
Father, I receive the grace to resist the lifestyle of pride and arrogance. I ask that You help me to maintain the attitude of humility, Lord in Jesus’ Name.
