OPENING PRAYER: Lord, let the light of your word shine into my life as I meditate on your word.
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: Isaiah 11:1-16

ā¢ Q 7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 11th October 2023 OUTLINE:
Isaiah foretells the coming of the Messiah and the type of kingdom He will establish. He will come forth from a branch out of the root of Jesse. This is a reference to the incarnation in Luke 1:31-33.
Resting upon the Messiah or Anointed One are six gifts namely: wisdom, divine counsel, power, knowledge, fear of God and Spiritual discernment. Reference is also made to His second coming (v.4) to earth in judgment and His destruction of all the wicked (2 Thessalonians 1:6-10). This return in just retribution is necessary to establish His perfect and righteous rule.
The picture of the Messianic age (vs.6-9) is symbolized by the peacefulness among all Godās creatures āThe wolf will live with the lambā. A little child will be safe by the cobraās hole. Meditate on the other characteristics of the Messianic age besides the absence of violence and hostility?
āIn that dayā (vs.10-16) is referring to days of the Messianic kingdom which will be preceded by a re-gathering of the Jews who accept Jesus as the Messiah. There will be blessing for all people, Gentiles and Jews (Micah 4:1-4) but what will be the fate of the ungodly (vs.14-15)?

Lord, prepare me to be a part of your restored kingdom. May I hold unto my salvation and never be a cast away.

āŗChildren, not be pre-occupied with just using daily power to prepare for competition, but to use it to deepen their relationship with God.
