Today’s Daily Guide 9 June 2025 Reading By Scripture Union
TOPIC: Accountable Leadership
OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, I request that you help me to encounter you as I meditate on your word.
SCRIPTURE READING – Acts 11:1-18
Question(s) For Meditation:
► Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
► Q3: Is there any command for me to obey
Peter was a Jew and a great apostle of our Lord Jesus Christ. In yesterday’s reading, we saw how God sent him to Cornelius, a Gentile. But now, his good works and ministry came under attack. Notice those who criticized Peter’s ministry and the allegation they brought against him (Acts 11:1-3)?
Some people may oppose our ministry not necessarily because they hate us but because they need some explanation for our actions. Ignorance of what the Spirit of God is doing in accordance with the Word of God can make a believer resist God unknowingly. We should read and meditate on the Word of God if we want to understand God and what He is doing.
Read Acts 11:4-17 and notice how Peter, the leader of God’s people, handled the criticism. Even when his action was guided by the Scriptures (Acts 11:16), he humbly held himself accountable to the brethren. This is a good example for leaders to reduce quarrels and maintain peace in the body of Christ (Acts 11:18). Also, listening servant leaders sometimes can effect changes because of feedback coming from the people (Acts 6:1-7).
And So:
Six men accompanied Peter to Caesarea (v.12b). They were able to confirm the authenticity of Peter’s account. Is this something you can imitate the next time you go on a delicate mission?
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer:
Father, give me a quiet and humble spirit in my relationship with other Christians.
