Scripture Union Daily Guide 8 February 2026 | OUTLINE
Notice what the apostles did when they returned from the field in Luke 9:10a. What can we learn from this? Jesus had tried to slip quietly away from the crowd with His disciples after their evangelism possibly to rest a while, but people found out where He was going and followed Him. Instead of showing impatience at this interruption, Jesus welcomed the people and ministered to their needs (Luke 9:10-11). How do you respond to people who interrupt your schedule – consider them as a nuisance or as the reason for your life and ministry?
When the problem of feeding over 5,000 hungry people arose, the disciples felt that the situation was hopeless. Jesus offered a surprising solution by feeding everyone. Do you think God would ask you to do something that you and He together couldn’t handle? Don’t let your lack of resources blind you to God’s power. Why did Jesus bother to feed these people? He could easily have sent them on their way, but He does not ignore our needs. He is concerned about our physical as well as our spiritual needs (Luke 9:16,17).
And So
Our ministry is to the total man; his spirit, soul and body.

HYMN: NO, NOT ONE!
1. There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one! No, not one!
None else could heal all our soul’s diseases,
No, not one! No, not one!
Refrain
Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one! No, not one!
2. No friend like Him is so high and holy,
No, not one! No, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly,
No, not one! No, not one!
3. There’s not an hour that He is not near us,
No, not one! No, not one!
No night so dark but His love can cheer us,
No, not one! No, not one!
4. Did ever saint find this friend forsake him?
No, not one! No, not one!
Or sinner find that He would not take him?
No, not one! No, not one!
5. Was ever a gift like the Savior given?
No, not one! No, not one!
Will He refuse us a home in Heaven?
No, not one! No, not one!
