SCRIPTURE READING
Matthew 20:29-34
29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.
30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?
33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Scripture Union Daily Guide – 8 August 2025 – OUTLINE
Have you seen billboards advertising crusades proclaiming where people would see the blind healed and the lame walk? Jesus Christ needed no such advertisement. Indeed, no one does. Once it actually happens, the whole town would hear! Even these blind men, out of the mainstream of society, knew very much about Jesus. From the stories they heard, they knew He could heal them; and they understood that He was the Son of David prophesied by their ancient Scriptures. Also, they not only believed but they acted on their faith. There are handicapped people content to wallow in their disability. Not these two. They refused to be silenced, and they did not hesitate to declare that it was healing they wanted from Jesus.
Notice the reaction of the crowd to these unfortunate disabled men (Matthew 20:31). They did not consider them important enough to trouble the Master. How often do we neglect disabled people and deny them their rights? The Master never neglects anyone. He always has time for those who call to Him for help. That includes you and me, whatever our needs may be. We should not allow anyone to distract or discourage us. Jesus Christ always has time to hear our cry.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).
