OPENING PRAYER: Open my eyes O Lord that I might behold wondrous things from your word in Jesus name.

Scripture Union Daily Guide 7th October 2023 Outline:
Chapter 8 ends on the note that because of the actions of the people of Judah, they ended up in darkness. Note the use of the word, ‘nevertheless’ (NIV, KJV). This shows that the birth of Christ makes a difference in the lives of all. Read vs.2-3 again and see what His birth did. His birth brought about the extension of His Kingdom to the Gentiles, who before now were living in darkness (v.2; Ephesians 2:11-13). Then in vs.4-5, note what will happen as He increases human’s joys.
One of the greatest prophecies in the Bible and the greatest promises are given in v.6. This is the ultimate ruler of the world, the Son of David whom God gave to the world freely. Consider the great titles He is given here. Think about each one of them and what it really means. Now think how it applies in your own life, personally. Like the inhabitants of both kingdoms, the birth of Christ should give you the peace and joy you lack. What a great message to the whole world!

Pray that God would really reveal to you Jesus as portrayed in these verses, that you may give Him the glory He deserves.

â–º Pray for the peace of Christian homes.
