• What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 7 April 2022 MESSAGE
Notice how vs.13‐18 describe the state of Jesus prior to His death on the cross and what happened after He died (John 19:28‐29; Matthew 27:35). Some of the words of David about his own experience were profound prophetic statements about the Messiah. This signifies that David himself suffered deeply in his life and yet did not lose faith in God.
Many times, he thought the enemy was going to destroy his life, but God protected him. Vs.22‐31 are songs of praise, worship and thanksgiving from someone who was hopeless but had received assurance that his petitions were answered. There is no glory without a cross. It is not true that once one becomes a Christian, all will become rosy (Job 2:10).
Amid darkness and hopelessness, Paul and Silas began to sing praises to God, and He intervened miraculously (Act 16:25‐31). Even very difficult and life‐threatening times can be opportunities for testifying about the goodness of our God (v.25). Answered prayers offer an opportunity for a testimony.
Practice/Word Application

WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
1. What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer.
2. Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; Take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3. Are we weak and heavy laden, Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge, Take it to the Lord in prayer. Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In His arms He’ll take and shield you; You will find a solace there.
