TOPIC: A Solemn Reminder
OPENING PRAYER: I open my heart to meditate on your word, teach me your ways oh Lord.
SCRIPTURE READING: Joshua 23:1-16
Question(s) for Reflection
* Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
* Q3: Is there any command for me to obey?
* Q5: Is there any warning for me to heed?
The elderly Joshua is aware of his imminent death (v.14), so what does he do?
* A call to the leaders (vs.2-5): Notice the categories of leaders that Joshua summoned. He speaks as one of them. To whom does he point them (vs.3, 4&5)? What lesson can we learn from Joshua’s call to the leaders?
* A charge to the leaders (vs.6-12): Compare v. 6 with 1:7-8. At the culmination of his leadership, Joshua presents a three-fold charge to the leaders: “be careful to obey all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses without turning aside” (v.6), “do not associate with the pagan nations or worship their gods” (v.7), and “do not intermarry with the pagan nations” (v.12). What a great way to demonstrate that he kept the charge!
* A caution to the leaders (vs.13-16): Notice the negative consequences that were to follow if the Israelites disregarded the charge given in vs.6-12. Vs.13 and 16 are particularly instructive. What lessons do you derive from them?
God’s promises are true. What is required of us to be partakers of His promises (see Romans 12:2)?

Make Romans 12:1-2 the focus of your prayers today.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Proverbs 16:3
“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”

Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers to feed the church of God which He hath purchased with His own blood. – Acts 20:28.
PRAY FOR:
‣ God’s manifest presence in the National Induction Programme for the newly recruited
‣ Senior Staff of the Union.
‣ Travelling mercies for all participants.
‣ The release of divine unction on the resource persons to minister as His Oracle.
‣ Divine encounters for exploits on the participants in this meeting.
