Scripture Union Daily Guide 31 October 2025 Outline

Hebrews 8:8-12 are taken from Jeremiah 31:31-34. Read and meditate on this passage. What is the Old Covenant and what is the New Covenant? The New Covenant in which Christ mediates is enacted on better promises. Can we indicate some of the better promises in the passage? God in His mercy provided a superior covenant with Christ as the Mediator (Hebrews 8:6). Jesus Christ, a superior High Priest sits in a place of authority, power, and honour at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 8:1).

The Aaronic and Levitical priest of the Old Covenant served only as a copy or a shadow of the heavenly things here on earth (Hebrews 8:5). Christ’s priestly ministry is the true and eternal one. It is a much more excellent one than the Old Covenant. Check Romans 8:34 to find out what one of Christ’s priestly duties is. Christ intercedes for us and this should make us rejoice in Him.
Read Hebrews 8:10-12 again and identify four promises that make the New Covenant better than the Old. We are a privileged generation because, unlike the Old Covenant in which people had to rely on others to know God, we have the Holy Spirit, the great Comforter, the Teacher, living in us. Hallelujah!
