OPENING PRAYER:  Open my eyes O Lord that I might behold wondrous things from your word in Jesus name.

SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: JOHN 12:20-36

Read vs.20-21 again. What lessons can we learn from the Greeks who would not return to their country without having personal encounter with Christ, and from Philip and Andrew, who led them to Christ?

In vs.23-28 Jesus taught the people about His imminent death. Notice that the way He viewed His death in v.23. He used the illustration of a seed to teach that without death there can be no fruitfulness. If we want our lives to bring glory to God, we must be ready to die to self (Galatians 2:20) and totally surrender to God’s will, like a seed that is planted (v.24). Notice what will happen if we are unwilling to surrender to Christ (v.25a), and if we surrender, follow, and serve Him (vs.25b-26)?

Observe that it was a trying time in Jesus’ life (v.27). Though He was fully aware of the agony of crucifixion that lies ahead, yet He surrendered to the will of His Father (v.28). We also need to learn how to allow God and let Him have His way in our lives when we too face troubles and trials.

Lord, help me to surrender my life totally to you daily and be your true disciple.
