Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• What is God revealing to me in this passage?
Yesterday, our text ended with Israel relocating to Egypt to live as a foreigner in search of food. Over the years, some people from different communities and countries have left their native lands to settle in other places to escape from hunger, bad economy, unemployment, insecurity, natural disaster, epidemics, etc.
God helped his people in such situation. You too can trust God to help you in similar circumstances. His sovereign control over Israel was so complete that it governed even the evil that their enemies plotted and did against them. They were hated by the Egyptians because God had blessed them.
When you live according to God’s will, challenges, problems and difficulties are bound to come because God’s blessings upon your life can provoke the enemy’s hatred. God uses men, his faithful servants, to do his work (vv.26─27). He can call you today as he did Moses and Aaron. All he expects from you is integrity of heart.
Vv.28–36 recalls the plagues against the Egyptians because they lifted their hand against God’s people, and in fulfilment of his covenant promise to Abraham (Genesis 15:13–14). Through them, both Israel and the Egyptians understood who God is (Exodus 6:2–8). He still fights and defends the cause of his people. Trust him to bring to pass his plans and purposes for you.
