Opening Prayer: May the meditation of my heart be acceptable unto you, O Lord as I read from your word.
Today’s Scripture: LUKE 8:1‐15
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 3 February 2022 MESSAGE
Let us pay careful attention to what came before and what came after this famous parable. Have you ever heard a sermon on the first three verses of this chapter? Yet, without the people mentioned there, Jesus could not have carried out His ministry! Who were they, and what did they do? Do you know people like them in your church? Now, read the parable again, slowly, in vs.5‐8.
Jesus Christ explained the meaning in vs.9‐15, and it has nothing to do with money – absolutely nothing! The next time a preacher tells you that if you “sow” one dollar you will reap a hundred, make sure you are not misled. Jesus did not teach us to give money so that we would receive more money. It is true that the rewards He gives us can sometimes include money, but that is not His main concern. Notice what Jesus says about the seed in v.11 and about the harvest in v.15? Even more important, how does the soil of your own heart make the seed of the word of God to grow, and what fruit does it produce?
Practice/Word Application
For reflection: Read Hosea 10:12 and consider how you can fulfil what it says in your own life.

GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH
1. Guide me, O my great Redeemer, pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but you are mighty; hold me with your powerful hand. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me now and evermore, feed me now and evermore.
- Open now the crystal fountain, where the healing waters flow. Let the fire and cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through. Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer, ever be my strength and shield, ever be my strength and shield.
-
When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside. Death of death, and hell’s Destruction, land me safe on Canaan’s side. Songs of praises, songs of praises I will ever sing to you, I will ever sing to you.
Closing Prayer
• Dear Lord, help me to understand the mysteries of Your kingdom and to sow in righteousness.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Genesis 28:13
