TOPIC: A King Will Reign
OPENING PRAYER: My dear heavenly Father, as I study your word, let it be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 32:1-20
Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit
• Q 4: Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?
In many of our nations today, unrighteousness and injustice prevail. The leaders who are in government do not feel accountable to God or men. They are a law to themselves. The resultant effect is evil behaviours seen in society and lawlessness found everywhere. The foolish man who cheats the people but donates huge sums of money during public occasions is acclaimed and ululated (v.5). Schemers and scammers plan evil to enrich themselves at the expense of the poor (v.7). The thieves and crooks receive national honours.
Notice what will happen to those who are living in careless luxury in vs.9-14? It will be a time of untold hardship. However, there is hope in the horizon. In v.1, we are promised a king who will reign in righteousness and princes who will rule in justice. The only one who will fulfil these promises is no other than our Lord, Jesus Christ. His Spirit will usher in an era of prosperity, justice, righteousness, and peace (vs.15-20). Amid the chaos around us, this should be our hope and commitment? May all who long for this not only trust God for it but begin to live out the values of God’s new creation now!
