TOPIC: Forgive And You Will Be Forgiven.

Opening Prayer: Oh Lord, grant me divine guidance as I read and meditate on your word in Jesus name.

Today’s Scripture: Luke 6:37‐42

Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any command for me to obey?

MESSAGE: It is usually easier to judge the actions and words of others and even condemn them. However, Jesus warned His disciples and all of us today to resist such attitude (v.37)? List some of the ways people, even Christians, criticize and condemn each other today? According to an African proverb, “We see the back of other peoples’ heads; others see ours.” We should therefore be careful how we react to the faults we see in others.

Jesus here employs exaggeration to make His point. Can you imagine the laughter ‐ a man with a plank in his eye complaining about the speck in his brother’s eye? The plank not only looks unsightly, but it also blocks his view. How hypocritical for this badly flawed individual to criticize others when his judgment is severely impaired by his own faults! This is indeed a case of the blind leading the blind (v. 39).

Note that whatever correction we seek to make in others must first be applied in our own lives (vs.41‐42). Those who are quick to judge and condemn others may also be guilty of the same faults.

Practice/Word Application
So What: Christ has forgiven you even though you do not deserve it. Should you not forgive others over and over again? Pray for grace to do this.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Help me, dear Lord, to be a consistent doer of your word.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with 1 Chronicles 4:10
