Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
Is there any command for me to obey?
Outline: While the onus of teaching children properly lies on parents, vv.20─22 show clearly that it is the responsibility of the children to keep the instructions jealously and make the right use of them. In addition, while many people see God’s laws as his means of preventing us from enjoying life to the full, vv.23 is a valuable reminder that this is far from being the case. Just as our Lord Jesus said in John 10:10; it is the lawless one who comes to steal, kill and destroy while he came that we might have life and indeed have it to the fullest.

Contemporary civilization seems to portray sexual immorality as attractively as possible and the advertising industry operates in conflict with what vv.24–25 teach us today. As a result, many people are carrying fire under their bosoms and are being steadily destroyed (vv.26–29). The evils of adultery and fornication are well spelt out. It is destructive, senseless and can result into life–long and painful regrets. It destroys the soul and kills relationships (vv.32 –35).
Practice/Word Application
• Thought: Beware of ungodly relationships (2 Corinthians 6:14–16).
Prayer Points
• Lord, save us from dangers of adultery and its consequences.
• Praise Him for His love in keeping our families together in unity, and in meeting our spiritual and material needs.
• Offer a prayer of faith in line with 146. Jeremiah 31:17
