Scripture Union Daily Guide 23rd June 2023 MESSAGE:
In the Old Testament, God made it clear that obedience from the heart is much more important than sacrifices (1 Samuel 15:22, Amos 5:21-24). God wants us to offer ourselves, not animals, as living sacrifices – daily laying aside our desires, to follow Him and put all our energy and resources at His disposal. We no longer just take things as we meet them. Our conduct is not merely directed by peer pressure. Rather, we search to know God’s mind over every matter and do only what will please Him (v.2).
Paul uses the concept of human body to teach how Christians should live and work together. Just as the parts of the body function under the direction of the brain, so Christians are to work together under the command and authority of Jesus (1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Ephesians 4:1-16). Notice the caution in vs.3-5. God has given each of us gifts – the ability to do certain things well. These, we need to recognize and use cheerfully, according to His grace and as He directs us, for the benefit of the entire body of Christ (vs.6-8).

► The promise of God to set on high all His Children who live in obedience to His word.
► The prosperity and length of days we get as we listen and obey our God.
PRAY FOR:
► Increased discipline in SU as we follow God through this Journey of faith.
► Grace to keep bearing fruit till the end of our stay here on earth.
► Determination to stand firm and focused as we continue to give ourselves to the work of the Lord in SU.
PRAY AGAINST:
► Conforming to the pattern of the world and failing to renew our minds daily as we follow our Master.
► Walking in disobedience to God’s instructions while working for Him in SU.
