TOPIC: Keeping Hope In Afflictions

Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, expose me to your truth as I read your word in Jesus name.

Scripture: Lamentations 3: 19–39

Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?

Notice the shift towards hope from the devastation of yesterday in today’s passage. What has caused this change? See vv.22–23. Which things can we learn about God in this passage? You will find at least eight. List them in your notebook. We are also invited to accept and embrace the consequences of our actions. What are your thoughts about vv.27–30? Compare these verses with Psalm 119:67. What can you learn from both? Two important facts about God: He is a God of justice and will not condone sin. He will discipline us when we move away from his path. But he is also a compassionate God. The purpose of his discipline is to lead us back to this path of righteousness. Whenever we are under his discipline, we should not moan or complain (v.39), but seriously “examine our ways and ? return to the Lord” (v.40, compare Isaiah 1:18–19). To where do you turn when you face difficulties or afflictions in life?

⁂ Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Practice/Word Application
• Thought: Meditate on Lamentations 3:22–23.

Gratitude:
One unmistakable evidence of salvation experience is a spirit of gratitude even amid trials and difficulties. It is the admiration of what Christ has done for us. Christ has lifted us up from degradation and servitude to the joy of fellowship with Him and of the service of His kingdom. The desired response to all that Christ has done for us is gratitude

Prayer
• Thank God for his unfailing compassion, love and faithfulness at all time.
• Pray for Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship and such others that run ministries to professionals.
• Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalm 69:13–14

Read the Bible in one Year
2 Chron. 7–9; Luke 6:1–26
