Scripture Union Daily Guide 2 May 2024 OUTLINE
Paul turned from the principles of the grace of giving, which we considered yesterday to the practice of good stewardship of resources for the work of the gospel. This requires strength of character and accountability. First, reflect on how Paul described their stewardship assignment in v.19. Is this how ministry funds are handled by you, your Church or fellowship?
Paul gave us an example of accountability in his practice of carrying the offering with others. Read v.21 to see one reason why he might have chosen to do it this way. In what other areas of our lives and in what ways can we also take pains to do what is right “not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man” (v.21)?
Secondly, see how Paul introduced each of the three men mentioned in today’s passage. What lessons do you learn from his testimony about each of the brethren (Titus, vs.16-17, 23 and the unnamed brothers, vs.18 -19 and 22)? What would be your own testimonial from your Church, home, or workplace? We need to promote integrity as a hallmark of Christian discipleship today. It is wrong for the Christian to be named in vices such as fraud, stealing, bribery or cheating. May you receive the grace to shine in character as a trustworthy and dependable child of the Holy God!
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, please fill me with your Holy Spirit of truth, that I would always be a person of integrity.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Deuteronomy 7:8 ‐ 9
