Scripture Union Daily Guide 19th June 2022 MESSAGE
In our passage today, we read of another group of religious leaders who came to tempt Jesus with their questions. Notice their mindset before coming to Jesus (v.27) and the great truth that Jesus revealed in vs.34‐38. The resurrection of the dead is sure (See also 1 Thessalonians 4:13‐17). There will be no marriage in heaven.
This should guide us to avoid being desperate for marriage as some do and make a shipwreck of their faith by defiling themselves in unholy relationships or unequal yoke. Jesus, Son of Joseph, descendant of David, is the Messiah (vs.41‐44). There is no question about His authority! Do you still sometimes have doubts about the Lordship of Jesus and the salvation He offers?
What are the marks of hypocrites in vs.46‐47? It is important that we constantly examine ourselves and be sure that deep down in our hearts, we are not guilty of any of these behaviours. We also need to be watchful so that no one deceives us by their “pious” appearance.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
• Help me, Lord, to consistently hold on to the hope of resurrection and eternal dwelling with you.

THANK GOD FOR:
› His help over our lives that makes us steadfast and immovable despite what the world is doing.
› The anointing of God that abides in us and teaches in everything.
› Growth in our prayer life, studying of the scriptures and attending; church, fellowship and evangelism.
› Grace to hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering.
› Steadfastness faithfulness and integrity to be our watch word in all that we do in SU as we expect the coming of the Lord.
∷ Inconsistency and falsehood even as we continue in the work of God in SU.
∷ Failing to abide in the word of God daily.
