Scripture Union Daily Guide 18th September 2022 Devotional for Sunday

TOPIC: The hope of the believer

OPENING PRAYER: Make my life oh Lord a reflection of you as I study your word.

SCRIPTURE: Revelations 14:1‐20

Scripture Union Daily Guide 18th September 2022 MESSAGE

The persecution of Christians is on the increase around the world. While we do not claim that the beast is practically around, passages like our text give an idea of the intensity of what life will look like when the beast is fully in control. Notice what happened to the beast and its followers (vs.9‐11). The Lamb on the throne redeems and secures those who belong to Him.

Those who serve the Lord will be rewarded at the final harvest. The believer triumphs at the end of the great tribulation. Mount Zion could mean the heavenly Jerusalem as in Galatians 4:26. The devil is good at trying to imitate what God does. All believers are united with no denominational barriers. They sang a new song (14:1) – unreservedly praising their God.

Praise is the sole assignment of believers in heaven. We learn to do that while on earth. All through, salvation remains constant in Christ. Notice the announcement of the angels declaring the messages as they proclaim judgments. Those who refuse to face or accept the truth will have to do so someday. God, through faith in Christ, comforts the persecuted saints and invites us to be steadfast in the face of persecution.

Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any command for me to obey?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Thank God for the hope of eternity with Him.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Genesis 24:60

One Year Bible Reading Plan
Daniel 7, 8; Job 4.

PRAYER FOCUS

BRETHREN IN FOREIGN LAND:

STEADY IN THE RACE
Therefore my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…
1 Corinthians 15:

THANK GOD FOR:
☀ The Lord who is their God, and has promised to direct their hearts into the love of God.
☀ The grace of God that is capable of helping them remain steadfast even in the foreign land.

PRAY FOR:
☛ Our brethren in the foreign land that God will help them to remain on their guard so they will not be carried away.
☛ Grace for them to continue in God’ s word in order for God to perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish them.
☛ They continue to hold God as their Anchor even in the foreign land.

PRAY AGAINST:
⚠ Any error of unprincipled men that will want to make them fall from their own steadfastness and Godly principles.
⚠ Carelessness that will make them forget the path God had originally laid out for their lives.
