Scripture Union Daily Guide – 16 December 2025 | OUTLINE
Today’s passage begins with restriction on Israel’s freedom to celebrate. Why (Hosea 9:1c)? God does not view turning away from Him and unfaithfulness to Him lightly. Are you busy taking God for granted as Israel did?
What was Israel’s eventual punishment (Hosea 9:2-6)? Indeed, the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
Compromise of godliness is not cheap. Many countries, families, and individuals are suffering because of compromise of the truth (Hosea 9:7). That Israel received what she deserved means God has no favourite. He is just and faithful (1 John 1:9).
Hosea 8:7b-9 show her wrong attitude towards God and His prophet, expressing the extent of her ungodliness. Most times, hostility of many nations and people towards God and His servants tells you the extent to which they have parted with the truth.
Unrepented and accumulated sins of generations do not go unpunished. They must be rebuked and corrected to deter others from further sinfulness.
