Scripture Union Daily Guide 15 March 2024 TOPIC: Direct Access to the Father
OPENING PRAYER
Dear Lord, I request that you help me to encounter you as I meditate on your word.
SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY:
25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

In his general Epistle, John exclaimed in amazement the kind of love the Father has bestowed on us, “that we should be called children of God” (1 John 3:1). This is what Jesus has done for us, sharing His Father’s love for us in its fullness, so that we have direct access into His holy presence.
On the contrary, only the High Priest could approach the mercy seat in Old Testament period, and that only once a year. But now, Jesus gives us the authority of direct entry to the Father’s throne room, and we are free to ask Him for anything as the Father’s child (v.26).
Two of God’s precious promises are in v.33 but notice the challenge that goes along with them in the same verse. We cannot experience His overcoming grace without the promised tribulation.
PRACTICE WORD/APPLICATION
So what? The priesthood of all believers has not voided nor cancelled the ordination of some people in our churches as priests. It is a call to be in the forefront of Church work for special services in an orderly manner that glorifies God (Ephesians 4:11-13).

CLOSING PRAYER
Meditate on v.33 and ask God to affirm to you His peace and victory over the world.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Deuteronomy 33:25 ‐ 33:28
25 Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be. 26 There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky. 27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. 28 Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

THANK GOD FOR:
• The lives of all our Regional Coordinators in SU Nigeria, and their families
• The privilege and grace to oversee the work in the Regions
PRAY FOR:
• They will be men full of grace and wisdom
• Wisdom to be able to manage the staff under them, and the pilgrims acceptably
• The fruit of the Spirit will manifest in their lives
• A good working relationship between them, their Regional Chairmen, and the Regional Committees
