Scripture Union Daily Guide 15 March 2022 MESSAGE
In Africa, food security is a challenge and, in some communities, getting regular supply of food and clothing could be tough. For example, during coronavirus lockdown, it was really difficult for the urban poor to keep life going. And it was a pretty hard time for individuals, families and businesses across the continent.
In today’s passage, the Lord Jesus gives the assurance that God will meet our basic needs for food and clothing. So, we are not to be anxious about these (vs.27‐29). Take note of the advice Jesus gives us in v.31. When we look carefully at vs.32 & 33, the Lord Jesus is not desiring for His followers to become poor people.
He wants them to be generous and not put all their hearts in earthly possessions. The early church practised this godly generosity (Acts 2:45; 4:32‐37; 2 Corinthians 8:1‐5). How we deal with money shows the quality of our spirituality (v.34).
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
• Lord Jesus, help me not to be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer with thanksgiving, to make my request known to you (Philippians 4:6).
Offer a prayer of faith in line with 2 Corinthians 4:16
