Topic: Imitate Christ, Walk In The Light!
Opening Prayer: Oh Lord, fill me with the power of the Holy Ghost as I study your word.
Scripture: Ephesians 5:3-20
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Is there any command for me to obey?
People, the world over, are surrounded by numerous sinful habits, like addictions, hate, sodomy, etc. Since God wants His people to be pure and to love and serve Jesus, He has not only sent His powerful word, but has promised to bless those who live according to His Word. His grace is enough to sustain us! Meditate on vs.3-6 cf.1 Cor. 6: 9 – 10; Col. 5 – 6! Enumerate some more of those attitudes the believer must put off, so it does not cause his downfall. Take note also of the warnings in vs.5-6.
Ponder on vs.7-20 and discover more and more of those things our Lord expects of us. Living according to the standards set in this passage will enhance your spiritual walk with God. Note the reason you are obliged to live in this manner (v.8 cf.1 Cor. 6: 11). Anybody who has rejected worldliness no longer belongs to this world. He must rather live a holy life, reflect and shine the light of Christ, live a holy and Spirit-filled life and humbly serve God and humanity.
Practice/Word Application
• Thought: As a prisoner for the Lord, do I live a life worthy of the calling I received?
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
• Dear Lord Jesus, please help me, your servant, to pursue only those things that please and honour you.
• Thank God for His love which He has demonstrated in diverse ways of salvation, health, provisions, safety, etc.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Numbers 23:20; Josh. 7-9; Luke 15:11-32
