From the previous chapter one would have thought that David’s rejection would have dealt him a big blow! In 1 Samuel 30:1-5, we find that God had returned David and his men to Ziglag for a greater honour than he was looking for from Achish! Every challenge that the Lord allows you to face may be turned into an opportunity. Check Romans 8:28. They were all devastated to see what the Amalekites had done to their city and family and his men blamed him.
Notice how David was able to recover from his distress in 1 Samuel 30:6b-8. When you feel like the whole world is against you or collapsed around you, to whom do you turn? Unlike Saul, God responded to David’s cry to Him. We should surely desire to be in good relationship with our God. Then, when we call, He answers. .
Notice how David and his company treated the Egyptian slave (1 Samuel 30:11-12) compared with his master’s attitude towards him (1 Samuel 30:13). This forsaken slave became a source of vital information for David. People we come across should be treated with respect and dignity irrespective of their race or social background. You don’t know the ‘angel’ God may be sending your way to give you the help you need (Hebrews 13:2).

* His church, all the shepherds of His flock, for the grace and privilege to lead God’s people • Building His Church, and not allowing the gates of hell to prevail against it. Bring repentance to God for all his servants who have not represented God well in leading his people.
PRAY FOR:
* All of us His people will take a resolve to fully walk in His steps, that He may use us for the deliverance of the nations as He has promised.
