TOPIC: David’s “vision” and “mission”
Opening Prayer
Help me dear Lord to meet with you as I meditate on your word in Jesus name
Bible Text
Psalms 101:1-8
Meditation Question
► Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
Some people write a personal “Vision Statement” and “Mission Statement” to set out how they see themselves and their goals in life, and how they intend to go about accomplishing them. This psalm qualifies as that of King David. He began with his personal relationship with God. When we get that right, the rest falls in line. As Jesus Christ puts it, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). How did David plan to accomplish this (Psalms 101:1,2)?
Notice that he included the proper ordering of his home as a family man then his relationship with other people. Compare what he said in Psalms 101:3-5 with Psalms 1:1. The company we keep defines who we are. This is why it is very important for us to choose friends who will draw us closer to God and not be a clog on the wheel of our faith. Thirdly, David, writing as a king, outlined what he would want to see in the lives of those who would be his ministers (Psalms 101:6-7) and set out his domestic policy (Psalms 101:8).
And So
Have you written your own personal Vision and Mission Statements? Why not find some time to do so today and pray for grace to carry them out?
Insight

HYMN: TRUST AND OBEY
1. When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain: Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4. But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows,
For the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet.
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
