“And who knows if you may have attained royal position for such a time as this?”
– Esther 4:14

I am constantly amazed at how God works. He delights in putting the most unlikely people in the most unique positions to affect the most amazing results. He confounds the wisdom of men.

The story of Esther and Mordecai is a great example. Were you to try and handpick the perfect people to thwart a genocidal plan to wipe out the people of God – let’s just say, Esther and Mordecai aren’t swimming to the top of your pool of applicants.

And that’s to say nothing of the process. Twists, turns, oddities. Who does this? God – that’s who! When God planned to prevent the annihilation of the Jews, He started with a beauty contest!

God is in the business of positioning ordinary people in extraordinary places, fit perfectly for peculiar moments and situations in history.

Look around. Do you think your circumstances somewhat strange? Perhaps you have been divinely placed there … for just such a time as this.

O God, as I look around I have to wonder: Have You chosen me and placed me here in these unique settings and circumstances in my life today for Your ends? Open my eyes to see. Give me courage to follow Your lead. In Jesus’ name I pray.
