Rod Parsley Daily Devotional 2 June 2024, Sunday Message
TOPIC: The Gift of Song
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
– Colossians 3:16
Music can affect the atmosphere surrounding you. Spiritual songs can break off a depression, set your heart to dancing, create an environment of worship and humble your heart in thanksgiving and gratitude for what God has done, is now doing and will do.
When we listen to music that invites the presence of God, there is a strong connection that builds a more intimate relationship with our Creator. Whether listening to music created by someone else or singing a song spontaneously prompted by the presence of the Holy Spirit, the gift of song can take a dark day and make it brighter.
When the saints gather together, music has a way of uniting the body of Christ and bringing us into one accord. It’s hard to argue, or backbite, or gossip, or put someone down when you’re lifting praise to God in sincere worship. Make listening to and singing songs of praise a part of your day.
Holy Spirit, give me songs of praise in my heart today for God.
