TOPIC: The Secret Enemy (3)
BIBLE READING: John 15-21
TEXT: “And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom:” 2 Sam. 15 :14.
OFM RHEMA MESSAGE
David never lost any battle. He fought 66 battles and won all. He never ran from any battle. Infact as a young boy, when he saw Goliath, the bible says he ran to him. There was not retreat, no surrender in his dictionary. But guess what? He ran from Absalom his own son, an insider who was a secret enemy. He didn’t just run like that, he fled when he heard that his best counsellor Ahitophel who was close to him was with Absalom.
Ahitophel knew his weakness and strength. He knew how David could be finished, so David had to runoff without shoes on. He must have earlier wondered who was giving Absalom might.
The secret enemy is so deadly because he or she appears to be a friend. Remember Judas used a kissing sign to betray Jesus. He was telling the world he was close to Jesus, but he was using that love sign to communicate hatred, selling him (Jesus) to his (Judas) fellow conspirators and adversaries of Jesus.
You may think the killing kisses began with Judas but it didn’t and would not end with him. In 2 Samuel 20 :9 – 10; Amasa, a great warrior lost his life like a chicken because he fell for the show of affection by Joab, who kissed him. If he had seen Joab as enemy, he would have been on alert. See how scripture puts it, “And Joab said to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him.
But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab’s hand: so he smite him therewith in the fifth rib, and she’d out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died.” 2 Sam 20 :9 – 10
A great warrior died like a chicken! I pray for you, you will not end like that..
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! Every secret enemy around my life, family and all my interest, as I begin to pray, I unmask you and throw you out.
