Topic: Meditate on this….
Genesis 37:18-19
18 Now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him. 19 Then they said to one another, “Look, this dreamer is coming! NKJV
Dear Friend,
The brothers of Joseph had a deep-seated hatred for their brother. They had allowed this bitterness to take over them spiritually, mentally, and now into the physical. They were at a point where action rooted in emotion was taking place.
It is so important to keep our hearts moldable and mendable and free from bitterness, envy, and hatred. Those seeds will lead us to places that no one ever needs to go. We live in a culture where it is encouraged to dislike this or disagree with that, and where disagreements are the focus. But what does God tell us to do?
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. NKJV
Other translations in this verse tell us to, “fix our thoughts”, “dwell on”, and “think about” the things that are pure, lovely, and of good report. No matter what is going on in your workplace or in your home, we are encouraged to meditate on good things. Today, ask God to help you to think of these positive things and take away any bitterness you may have. He is a good Father, loves you, and wants you to love others.
Life Lesson:
Meditate, fix your thoughts, dwell on, and think about things that are… true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, worthy of praise, of good repute, excellent, honest, just, good reports, and any thing with virtue.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the reminder of Your goodness. Thank You for Your forgiveness. Help me to forgive others as You have forgiven me. Show me in my own heart where there may be bitterness and then give me the strength and courage to get rid of it. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
