SUMMARY:
Faith is extremely important to God. He wants us to rest in the promises He made to us; this rest is only
possible through genuine belief in what He said, with absolutely no doubt or unbelief. Believing Him
keeps us from thinking that we must work hard to earn the right to enter into the place of rest He’s
already provided for us.
In God’s eyes, resting in Him means totally depending and relying on Him for
help and support. He can do things we never could; having confidence in Him allows Him to bring things
to pass we can’t take the credit for. Trusting in Jesus and in His finished works delivers us from selfeffort. We find peace when we practice deliberately focusing on God, instead of on the issues life throws
at us.
NOTES:
1. Our peace depends on our level of trust in God; He wants to take away all our anxieties.
2. God wants us to be still by yielding to Him; doing this allows Him to work through us.
3. We no longer have to work, but simply trust in God. He wants our worries and our fears. God doesn’t need our labor to do what He wants to do; neither does He need us for Him to be who He is. He can do things we could never take credit for.
4. God asks us to give Him what worries us. He exchanges our troubles for His peace. Trusting in God gives us peace of mind.
5. Toiling prevents God from doing anything for us. We can trust Him when trouble hits. Believers have God Himself living in them.
